injustice close to home

My Turkish friend Alp, a taxi driver, was a victim of random violence on the streets of Cambridge a couple of weeks ago. This attack wasn't racially motivated, it was simply violence, the breakdown of respect for another. What is wrong with this country, where young people lash out at strangers for no reason and with no thought for consequences?

The police proved themselves to be about as useful as a chocolate canoe. Thankfully, the NHS did a rather better job with their end of things and he is pretty much recovered.
